The Basics of Backgammon Game Plans – Part Two
Posted in Backgammon on 05/14/2025 11:25 pm by ZaireAs we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of talent and luck. The goal is to shift your chips safely around the board to your inside board and at the same time your opposition moves their chips toward their home board in the opposite direction. With opposing player chips moving in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for particular strategies at specific instances. Here are the last 2 Backgammon strategies to complete your game.
The Priming Game Tactic
If the goal of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to move her pieces, the Priming Game strategy is to absolutely block any movement of the opponent by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get bumped, or result a damaged position if he/she at all attempts to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anyplace between point two and point 11 in your board. As soon as you have successfully constructed the prime to prevent the movement of your competitor, your competitor does not even get to toss the dice, that means you shift your checkers and toss the dice yet again. You will be a winner for sure.
The Back Game Tactic
The objectives of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game strategy are similar – to harm your competitor’s positions hoping to better your chances of succeeding, however the Back Game plan relies on alternate tactics to do that. The Back Game technique is often utilized when you’re far behind your opponent. To participate in Backgammon with this strategy, you need to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This plan is more challenging than others to play in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your chips and how the checkers are relocated is partially the result of the dice toss.
