The Basics of Backgammon Tactics – Part One

The objective of a Backgammon match is to shift your chips around the Backgammon board and pull those pieces off the game board quicker than your competitor who works just as hard to do the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Winning a game of Backgammon requires both strategy and good luck. How far you will be able to shift your chips is left to the numbers from tossing a pair of dice, and the way you shift your chips are decided on by your overall gambling tactics. Enthusiasts use a few strategies in the different stages of a match depending on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Strategy

The aim of the Running Game strategy is to bring all your checkers into your home board and get them off as quick as you can. This strategy concentrates on the speed of moving your pieces with little or no efforts to hit or barricade your opponent’s checkers. The best time to employ this plan is when you believe you can move your own chips a lot faster than your opponent does: when 1) you have less pieces on the game board; 2) all your checkers have past your opponent’s pieces; or 3) the opponent does not employ the hitting or blocking technique.

The Blocking Game Strategy

The main aim of the blocking tactic, by its title, is to stop your competitor’s chips, temporarily, not worrying about moving your pieces quickly. As soon as you have created the barrier for the competitor’s movement with a few pieces, you can shift your other chips swiftly from the game board. You should also have an apparent plan when to withdraw and shift the chips that you used for the blockade. The game gets intriguing when your competitor utilizes the same blocking tactic.
