The Essential Basics of Backgammon Game Plans – Part One

[ English ]

The goal of a Backgammon game is to move your checkers around the Backgammon board and bear them from the game board quicker than your competitor who works harder to do the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Succeeding in a match in Backgammon requires both strategy and luck. Just how far you can move your pieces is left to the numbers from tossing the dice, and how you shift your checkers are determined by your overall gambling tactics. Players use different techniques in the different stages of a match based on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Tactic

The goal of the Running Game strategy is to bring all your checkers into your inner board and bear them off as fast as you can. This strategy focuses on the pace of advancing your pieces with absolutely no efforts to hit or block your competitor’s checkers. The best time to employ this strategy is when you believe you can shift your own pieces quicker than the opposition does: when 1) you have a fewer checkers on the board; 2) all your checkers have moved beyond your opponent’s pieces; or 3) the opponent doesn’t employ the hitting or blocking strategy.

The Blocking Game Technique

The main aim of the blocking tactic, by its title, is to block your competitor’s pieces, temporarily, not worrying about shifting your pieces rapidly. After you have established the blockage for your competitor’s movement with a few chips, you can move your other checkers swiftly off the game board. You should also have a good strategy when to back off and move the pieces that you used for the blockade. The game gets interesting when the opponent utilizes the same blocking technique.
