The Essential Basics of Backgammon Game Plans – Part 2

As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and good luck. The goal is to shift your pieces carefully around the game board to your home board and at the same time your opposing player moves their pieces toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With opposing player pieces moving in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for specific tactics at particular times. Here are the last two Backgammon techniques to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the purpose of the blocking plan is to hamper the opponents ability to shift his chips, the Priming Game plan is to completely block any activity of the opposing player by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get hit, or result a bad position if he/she ever attempts to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be established anyplace between point 2 and point eleven in your half of the board. After you’ve successfully built the prime to stop the activity of the competitor, the competitor does not even get a chance to toss the dice, that means you shift your chips and toss the dice again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The goals of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game tactic are very similar – to hurt your opponent’s positions with hope to improve your chances of winning, however the Back Game tactic utilizes different techniques to do that. The Back Game plan is commonly employed when you are far behind your opponent. To play Backgammon with this plan, you need to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This plan is more complex than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your chips and how the chips are moved is partially the outcome of the dice toss.
