The Essential Basics of Backgammon Tactics – Part 1

The objective of a Backgammon match is to shift your pieces around the Backgammon board and get those pieces from the game board quicker than your opposing player who works just as hard to achieve the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Succeeding in a round of Backgammon needsrequires both strategy and fortune. How far you will be able to move your chips is up to the numbers from rolling a pair of dice, and just how you move your checkers are decided on by your overall gambling techniques. Players use different tactics in the different parts of a match depending on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Plan

The goal of the Running Game plan is to bring all your chips into your inside board and bear them off as quickly as you can. This tactic focuses on the pace of moving your pieces with no time spent to hit or stop your competitor’s chips. The ideal scenario to use this strategy is when you believe you might be able to move your own checkers a lot faster than your opponent does: when 1) you have less chips on the game board; 2) all your chips have past your competitor’s pieces; or 3) your opposing player does not use the hitting or blocking strategy.

The Blocking Game Technique

The main aim of the blocking technique, by the title, is to block the opponent’s checkers, temporarily, not fretting about shifting your checkers rapidly. Once you’ve established the blockade for the competitor’s movement with a few pieces, you can move your other pieces swiftly from the game board. You will need to also have an apparent plan when to back off and shift the checkers that you employed for blocking. The game gets interesting when the opposition utilizes the same blocking tactic.
